Thrushes ‘Rock’ for cancer

Parton, Raitt, Krauss perform at charity event

Guests at the taping of Lifetime TV’s fourth annual “Women Rock!” concert to champion breast cancer awareness at the Kodak Theater on Tuesday witnessed an impromptu act that home auds won’t see when the show airs Oct. 23.

Dolly Parton, who joined Bonnie Raitt to sing “Angel From Montgomery,” joked during a set change that she didn’t chirp the Raitt tune right. Then, during their duet on Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” an off-key Raitt stopped the perf altogether.

“See, I messed up your song, now you messed up mine,” Parton joked, before the down-home divas started over again.

Other highlights included an emotional performance from pop singer Anastacia, making her first TV appearance since being treated for breast cancer. Her original song “Heavy on My Heart” inspired fellow showbizzer and presenter Lisa Rinna, who told Daily Variety she was “blown away.”

Other participants included host Mandy Moore; performers Alison Krauss and Union Station, Kenny Loggins, Mya, Ann Wilson and Debbie Reynolds; and presenters Jessica Alba, Sharon Osbourne, Sara Rue, Katey Sagal, Alfre Woodard and Lance Bass.
