Producer Foster plans Naval screenings
“The Core” got its Hollywood preem Tuesday night, but producer David Foster is still hoping for a bow honoring two of its larger stars — the U.S.S. Constellation and U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, which were both called into action during the thriller’s rescue sequences.
“We were planning for a screening but before we could do it, [the crew] had to leave for the Middle East,” Foster recounted at Paramount’s after-preem party Tuesday night at the Hammer Museum.
Greg McMurry, visual f/x supervisor, said the key challenge wasn’t the dozens of massive explosions. “I had a lot of fun blowing stuff up, but what really counted on this one was making things believable like the Space Shuttle landing in the Los Angeles River,” he said.
Viacom’s Jonathan Dolgen, Par’s Sherry Lansing, director Jon Amiel and stars Aaron Eckhart, Hilary Swank, Alfre Woodard, Bruce Greenwood and Delroy Lindo attended along with Danny Glover and Rob Lowe.
