Sevigny praises Kazan pic at Gotham screening
Chloe Sevigny showcased Elia Kazan’s “America America” during her recent hosting stint for the AFI’s Grand Classics’ monthly benefit.
Format invites an actor or director to choose a film that inspires them. Sevigny said she considers Kazan’s pic “a nearly perfect film — about a man’s journey, his perseverance and his dream. . . Especially now, it’s important to remember why people come to our country and the value of democracy,” she added.
The Grand Classics has raised more than $20,000 for AFI and film preservation.
Co-founder Vanessa Wingate and partner Katrina Pavlos were on hand, along with thesps Natasha Lyonne, Bill Pullman and Agnes Bruckner.
