Kudo hope locked in ‘Glass’

Lions Gate head Ortenberg going to make sure pic gets seen

HOLLYWOOD — At Sunday’s screening for “Shattered Glass,” the story of the preppy weasel — or “serial apologist,” in the words of director Billy Ray — who falsified New Republic stories, the helmer said that launching at the Hollywood Film Fest could help during awards season because “this is a buzz-driven town. We could be a little bit below the radar. We’re small.”

Ray also said Lions Gate would be sending out screeners of the film.

Lions Gate Films topper Tom Ortenberg said his company is not an MPAA signatory, and “We’re going to do everything within our means to make sure ‘Shattered Glass’ gets seen by everyone who needs to see it.”

Among those seeing the film at the ArcLight were producers Paula Wagner, Mike Paseornek and Craig Baumgarten; stars Hayden Christensen, Peter Sarsgaard and Hank Azaria; plus guests Rick Nicita, Mike Marcus, Jamie Feldman and David Permut.
