Jests buoy ‘Love’ bow

Director Curtis jokes Grant difficult to work with

ROME — Hugh Grant and writer/helmer Richard Curtis poked fun at each other at the Italian preem of “Love Actually” Oct. 28.

Curtis told Variety “everyone was very easy except Hugh Grant; he is a very difficult man now but I do my best with him.”

Grant dismissed the idea that he could be a real-life prime minister now that he has played one in Curtis’ film. “Power would corrupt me,” he said. “I have always held that my one political hero is Caligula.”
