Davis, Bowie, Robbins pay tribute to thesp

Gotham did not let politics get in the way of its fete for Susan Sarandon.

The activist/actress, recently rebuffed by the Baseball Hall of Fame, was welcomed with open arms during a career retrospective at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall Monday night. Stars who came out to pay tribute included Geena Davis, Harry Belafonte, Gore Vidal and David Bowie.

Tim Robbins also took the stage to sing Sarandon’s praises, teasing, “I want to tell you something funny, but I value peace in my home.” Robbins did state, “She’s extremely photogenic when getting arrested.”

Sarandon rejoined, “Tim, I’ll thank you when we get home.”

Afterwards, Sarandon and her fans celebrated at Tavern on the Green.
