Fans flock to 'Dynasty's' helmer/subject Dash
NEW YORK — The drama was outside the theater Wednesday night at the unspooling of hip-hop spoof, “Death of a Dynasty.”
While early comers (read: those who arrived on time for the 7:30 scheduled start) were treated to the deafening DJ stylings of celeb spinnerSamantha Ronson, Hanif Muhammed, a bit player in the film, was stopped at the door carrying a loaded weapon.
Inside, event was more spirited than most, with fans jumping around following director/subject Damon Dash for autographs. (Dash, for his part, was shadowed by security at every step.)
Evening took a Tony Robbins-like turn when Dash encouraged the audience to “give five or a hug to the person on your left.”
Tight-packed afterparty was held at the Breakfast Club (nee Moomba). Guests included Walt Frazier, Norman Reedus, Reverend Run, Dirt McGirt and Russell Simmons.
