Percentery one of many to pursue producer
David E. Kelley has signed with the William Morris Agency for representation in both TV and film.
Move comes less than a week after the Emmy-winning scribe ankled Endeavor, his longtime agency home (Daily Variety, April 14.) He continues to be repped by manager Marty Adelstein of Original and attorney Michael Gendler.
Signing is a major get for WMA, which had been pursuing Kelley for weeks after word got out the producer-scribe was considering leaving Endeavor. While WMA has its share of big-name TV producers, signing Kelley gives the tenpercentery a one-man TV powerhouse on a par with UTA-repped Dick Wolf and CAA-repped John Wells.
Neither Kelley nor Adelstein was available for comment late Wednesday, but a rep speaking for both said Kelley signed with WMA because the agency’s roster of filmmakers and corporate connections made it “a natural fit.”
Kelley’s exit from Endeavor last week was said to be amicable. At the time of his departure, the agency said it would “continue to root for” Kelley’s success.
