Longtime studio exec Frank Kohler has joined the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences as the org’s chief financial and administrative officer.
Kohler replaces Herb Jellinek, who last year announced plans to step down from the TV academy. Jellinek, who had served as exec vice president for 12 years, will depart at the end of March. He’ll continue to serve as a consultant for the org.
Kohler’s appointment was announced Wednesday by ATAS prexy/chief operating officer Todd Leavitt, to whom he’ll report.
The exec will oversee the TV academy’s financial operations, strategic and business planning, cash management, and policies and procedures. Kohler’s job also includes the oversight of the org’s administration and facilities, as well as management information services.
Kohler joins ATAS after more than 20 years at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
“Frank is a respected financial executive with a long and impressive list of accomplishments during his career,” Leavitt said. “These are very exciting times for the Academy, and we are delighted to have an executive of Frank’s caliber join us to play an important role in our growth.”
At Sony, Kohler most recently was senior VP of finance for the studio operations/digital studios division. He also served as senior VP of finance for the Motion Pictures Group. Kohler’s credits also include a stint at Price Waterhouse.
