Net vet upped after Bird flies

LONDON — Louise Sams has been tapped prexy of Turner Broadcasting System Intl., replacing Andy Bird, who is ankling after nine years on Oct. 17.

Sams, a longtime TBS exec and its general counsel, will oversee the international business, including Cartoon Network, TCM, Boomerang and more than 50 local and regional services, as well as distrib and commercial operations for CNN’s international services.

She will remain based in TBS’ Atlanta headquarters and report to chairman and chief exec Philip I. Kent.

“Louise has been directly involved in our international business for more than seven years, contributing far beyond her capacity as chief legal adviser,” Kent said. “Her appointment will bring greater visibility to TBS Intl. business issues in our Atlanta headquarters while preserving our successful operating model of empowered local and regional management and day-to-day decision-making.”
