HOLLYWOOD — Sony Pictures Television has recruited Sarah Weidman as vice president of development.
Former MTV Networks exec will work on the creation of new, unscripted programming for SPT, alongside senior VP of development and syndicated programming Melanie Chilek and senior vice president of development and cable programming Zack Van Amburg.
“Sarah has a terrific sensibility about nontraditional development, and she brings us a great combination of production and network experience,” Chilek said.
Weidman joins from MTV, where as VP of series development she shepherded the creation and production of original skeins and specials including “The Osbournes,” “FM Nation” and “Making the Video.”
Previously, she was a producer and writer on syndicated and cable programs including Lifetime’s newsmag “New Attitudes” and SPT’s update of “The Dating Game.”
