Nets jump Jacko to primetime

Walters offers special '20/20' seg; '48 Hours' gives new details

NEW YORK — The monstrous press fest over Michael Jackson’s legal troubles continued to galvanize network news divisions Thursday, with ABC News and CBS News announcing special primetime coverage this weekend.

Tonight Barbara Walters will interview Jackson’s brother, Jermaine Jackson, during a special segment on newsmag “20/20.”

On Saturday, “48 Hours Investigates” will devote its entire broadcast to “new details and revelations” in the Jackson case.

“Dateline NBC” was first out of the gate, announcing on Wednesday its plans for a primetime newsmag special on Jackson. The hourlong “Dateline” report, set to air Saturday, will include an interview with a family member of the young man who accused Jackson of child molestation in 1993, plus the former Los Angeles police detective involved in that case.
