One more record Nielsen number for cabler

NBC’s Thursday sked is getting another dose of Bravo’s “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.”

Summer smash will get its second Peacock run Aug. 14, with the net once again cutting the hourlong down to a half-hour so it can fit between repeats of “Will & Grace” and “ER.”

NBC aired a half-hour “Queer” in the same slot last month, scoring respectable but not phenomenal ratings. The real benefit, however, came a few days later, when the regular Tuesday night Bravo run of “Queer” rocketed to another record Nielsen number for the once-sleepy NBC-owned cabler.

All this broadcast repurposing no doubt has some industry observers wondering if NBC plans to repeat “Queer” on a regular basis (in the same way ABC last summer aired repeats of USA’s “Monk”). NBC execs say there’s no such plan in the works, since building up Bravo is the priority — for now.
