Mellon ripe for boost at Par

Exec responsible for all TV research

Mike Mellon has been promoted to executive vice president of research for Paramount Worldwide Television Distribution.

Move makes the 12-year Par veteran responsible for meeting all research needs for Paramount Domestic Television, Paramount Intl. Television and Paramount Television Production, which includes Paramount Network TV, Viacom Prods. and Big Ticket Television.

He most recently was senior VP of research. He’ll continue to report to John Nogawski, president of Paramount Domestic Television.

“As head of our research department, Mike has played an integral role in the success of our division, providing the crucial intellectual analysis needed to enhance our strategies across the board,” Nogawski said. “His new title is in recognition of his overall achievements, and I am proud to recognize his hard work and loyalty.”

Mellon joined Paramount in 1992 as senior VP of research for Paramount Domestic TV. In 1994, he was named senior VP of research for Paramount Television Group, where his responsibilities increased to include both syndicated and network programming.

Before joining Par, Mellon was VP of media strategy for Buena Vista Television from 1989-92 and VP of research for Disney Television from 1985-89.
