‘George’ comes up short

'Nation' bests 'Face'; both still trail 'Meet'

NEW YORK — After months in a dead heat, the Sunday morning news competitors have had a November sweeps shakeout: ABC News’ Sunday morning roundup “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” was surpassed by competitor CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

According to Nielsen Media Research, “Face the Nation” delivered 2.8 million viewers during the sweep period, while “This Week” delivered 2.5 million.

NBC News’ “Meet the Press” remained far in front throughout the November sweep, delivering 4 million viewers — 44% more than “Face” and 58% more than “This Week.”

In the key news demo of adults 25-54, “Meet” drew a 1.1 rating/6 share; “Face,” a 0.9 rating/5 share; and “This Week,” a 0.8 rating/4 share.

ABC News said “This Week” was reskedded in a number of markets because of sports programming during two weeks in November, hence the poor showing.
