The list of tech-oriented analysts shrank when Forrester Research snatched up cross-town competitor Giga Information Group for $60 million.

Both companies are based in Cambridge, Mass., and provide advice on technology-related matters in many areas, including entertainment. Forrester chairman George Colony said the merged company will be better able to compete against giant Gartner, which was founded in 1979 by Gideon Gartner, who subsequently left in 1996 to found Giga.
