Farr better thing: ‘Girl’

McKenzie, Ward, Fay also pilot new TV roles

Diane Farr has booked her second pilot of the season, while newcomer Benjamin McKenzie landed the plum role of Ryan in the McG and Josh Schwartz drama pilot “The O.C.” for Fox.

Deals are some of the latest as pilot casting winds down. Here are the details:

  • Farr, who already is set to star in NBC pilot “The Ripples,” booked a guest gig on CBS’ “Harry’s Girl,” from Rob Greenberg, over the weekend. Christine Taylor (“Zoolander”) stars in “Harry’s Girl,” produced by Warner Bros. TV, as a woman whose life is narrated by a talking dog. Andy Richter is signed on to supply the voice of the canine. Farr, managed by Steven Fenton at CMC and repped by WMA, will portray the best friend of Taylor’s character.

  • “The O.C.,” from Warner Bros. TV and Wonderland Prods., revolves around a street-smart teen (McKenzie) who winds up in the high-class society of Orange County. Doug Liman is directing the pilot episode. Peter Gallagher, Mischa Barton, Tate Donovan and Adam Brody also star. McKenzie is repped by the Gage Group.

  • Meanwhile, Megan Ward has nabbed a role in the NBC/Touchstone comedy pilot “Mr. Ambassador.” Rupert Everett toplines the laffer, about a British ambassador in D.C. RonReaco Lee, Meredith Eaton and Derek Jacobi are also on roster to co-star. Ward, who recently had an arc on “Boomtown,” is repped by Innovative and Ellen Meyer Management.

  • Meagan Fay (“Magnolia”) has joined the cast of Fox’s untitled Glouberman/Orenstein comedy pilot. She’ll play the mother of twin child prodigies in the project, which comes from Warner Bros. TV and Tollin-Robbins.

Fay, repped by Paradigm and Main Title, recurs on “Malcolm in the Middle” and “Bernie Mac.” Other credits include “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” and “Barton Fink.”

  • Leo Fitzpatrick, who starred as Telly in the controversial feature “Kids,” has landed a guest role on the WB drama pilot “Fearless.”

Fitzpatrick will play the nemesis in the pilot, which comes from Warner Bros. TV and Jerry Bruckheimer. Thesp, repped by Don Buchwald and Acronym, will appear in the upcoming film “Blind Horizon” opposite Val Kilmer.

Other credits include “Storytelling,” “Serendipity” and HBO’s “The Wire.”
