TORONTO — A shuffle at broadcaster Chum has seen three execs upped to fill spots left vacant by earlier inside moves and the exit of Citytv co-founder Moses Znaimer.
Ellen Baine has been upped to VP of programming at Chum Television, taking over the spot left empty since Jay Switzer was appointed prexy in October 2000. Switzer has subsequently been promoted to prexy-CEO of Chum.
Baine, who joined Chum’s Citytv in 1991, was director of programming for Citytv, Star!, SexTV: The Channel and FashionTelevisionChannel.
Marcia Martin has been tapped VP of production for Chum Television, a new post. Znaimer was executive producer on all the company’s productions, she told Daily Variety, and his exit has left a hole. “We really didn’t have anyone that looked after production like I was doing for Citytv,” she said.
A longtime Citytv employee, Martin was VP of production at Citytv Toronto, and will continue as VP and general manager of Star!, FashionTelevision and SexTV.
Chum Television, a division of Chum, owns eight local TV stations and 17 specialty stations.
In addition, Maria Hale is the new VP of Citytv Toronto. She fills the post vacated by Stephen Tapp, who was upped to exec VP, television, in March. Hale was formerly managing director, interactive, at Chum Television.
