Former chairman solidified company's leading position
MONTREAL — Longtime Famous Players chairman-CEO John Bailey has ankled the Viacom-owned company, Canada’s largest exhibitor, it was announced Tuesday.
Robb Chase, formerly prexy and chief operating officer of the Toronto-based company, takes his place.
Bailey, who left to pursue other opportunities, joined Famous Players in 1992 as exec VP. Under his tenure, the company embarked on an ambitious expansion campaign across Canada, solidifying its position as the leading chain. It now has 93 locations with 846 screens.
“Robb is a very talented executive who has a great understanding of the exhibition industry,” said Tom McGrath, exec VP of Viacom Entertainment Group. “He will continue to make a significant contribution to the Viacom family. I thank John for his leadership and dedication over the years. We wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.”
Bailey joined Paramount Pictures in 1973 and held a range of positions in financial management.
Before joining Famous Players in 2000, Chase held various positions including prexy of Pizza Hut Intl., covering 92 countries. Chase will report to McGrath.
