Talkshow to air in fall during daytime
MONTREAL — Buena Vista Television has sold syndicated yakker “The Wayne Brady Show” to Canada’s Craig Media, which is set to launch new Toronto station toronto/one this fall.
The talkshow will bow on the daytime skeds of all Calgary-based Craig stations in the fall, including A-Channel Edmonton, A-Channel Calgary and A-Channel Manitoba.
Executive produced by John Redmann and Bernie Brillstein, “The Wayne Brady Show” has two Daytime Emmy nominations, for outstanding talkshow and outstanding talkshow host. The awards will be handed out Friday and will be hosted by Brady.
“The Wayne Brady Show” is produced by Enjoy the Ride Prods. and distributed by Buena Vista Television.
This is the latest sign that Craig Media is set to become a more aggressive player on the Canadian TV acquisitions scene. Last week, Craig bought “Monday Night Football” and is expected to be more active than usual during the Canadian round of buying at the L.A. Screenings next week.
Craig is in discussions with the major Toronto sports franchises — including hockey team the Toronto Maple Leafs, basketball’s Raptors and baseball’s the Blue Jays — to broadcast games on toronto/one.
Craig also runs the specialty channels MTV Canada, MTV2 and TVLand.
