'Crank Yankers,' 'Da Ali G Show' to air next week
COLOGNE — Teutonic music channel Viva TV will feed primetime with more licensed entertainment formats from a partnership with AOL Time Warner and RTL TV.
“Crank Yankers,” “Da Ali G Show,” anime series “The Candidate for Goddess” and “Angel Sanctuary” as well as inhouse formats including live cartoon call-in show “Fleischmann TV” will air beginning next week. It will re-run earlier seasons of “South Park,” sublicensed from RTL.
Dieter Gorny, CEO of parent Viva Media, said that Viva TV will increase its cooperation with RTL and ProSieben, mostly as producing partners for comedy shows and music formats while keeping secondary airing rights.
Since its takeover of format forge Brainpool, Viva Media has been a supplier of comedies for ProSieben. With RTL, it has already linked up for a Teutonic “Pop Idol” with extended follow-up reports.
