‘View’ on lookout for host

Fifth co-host seat opened in December

Barbara Walters announced a talent search Friday to find a fifth co-host for her morning talkshow “The View.”

Walters, a co-host and exec producer of the ABC weekday program, said 10 to 20 women would try out on camera this fall. She said she wants to introduce the finalist live on Nov. 26.

The fifth co-host seat opened in December when Lisa Ling left the show to work for National Geographic Explorer. Remaining co-hosts are Joy Behar, Star Jones and Meredith Vieira.

Among those expected to try out are Rachel Campos, formerly of MTV’s “The Real World: San Francisco,” and Christy Lemire, an entertainment journo for the Associated Press.
