Twentieth courtshows get additional rulings

May sweeps: 'Divorce' up 7% , 'Texas' remained consistent

Twentieth TV has given the greenlight to additional seasons of reality courtroom skeins “Divorce Court” and “Texas Justice.”

Fifth season of “Divorce,” cleared in 94% of the country, will launch in fall, while season-three segs of “Texas,” cleared in 96%, will roll out in January.

“The court genre is alive and well, and both of our shows continue to garner impressive ratings,” 20th prexy-chief operating officer Bob Cook said.

During May sweeps, “Divorce” averaged a 2.9 household rating, up 7% from the previous year. “Texas” remained consistent with 2002 rating, posting an average 2.2.

Both firstrun syndie skeins have also added some new blood to their teams. “Divorce” has tapped Laura Gelles as exec producer, and “Texas” has upped Karen Melamed to co-exec producer.

Having been with “Divorce” since its launch, Gelles previously worked Twentieth’s “Power of Attorney” and the reality skeins “Judge Mathis,” “Change of Heart” and “Studs.”

Melamed logged producing duties for Fox Family Channel’s “Your Moment of Truth” and “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” before joining Twentieth in 2001.
