Stars comb TV ‘Mullet’

O'Hurley, Anderson take roles on UPN comedy

Sitcom vets John O’Hurley and Loni Anderson have joined the cast of UPN comedy pilot “The Mullet Brothers,” while Sam Robards (“American Beauty”) has been added to ABC’s “My Life With Men” and Emily Deschanel will star in ABC’s Dan Finnerty pilot.

O’Hurley and Anderson will play husband and wife in “The Mullet Bros.” Anderson, of course, is best known for her role on TV classic “WKRP in Cincinnati,” while O’Hurley played J. Peterman on “Seinfeld.”

It’s not the first time the thesps played a married couple; they were also hitched in the NBC telepic “White Hot: The Mysterious Murder of Thelma Todd” 10 years ago. Anderson is repped by Innovative, while O’Hurley is repped by Gold/Leidtke and Marv Dauer.

Meanwhile, Wendie Malick has found a husband on the ABC pilot “My Life With Men.” Robards has joined the cast as Jess, who’s married to Malick’s character.

Robards, who’s repped by ICM and Untitled, also appeared in “A.I.: Artificial Intelligence.” His TV credits include “Maximum Bob” and “Get a Life.”

Also joining “My Life With Men,” as Malick’s lesbian sister, is thesp Nadia Dajani (“Sidewalks of New York”). Her other credits include “Happy Accidents” and the TV series “That’s Life” and “Ned and Stacey.”

“My Life With Men,” from Touchstone, revolves around a married woman who lives with her four sons and father.

As for Deschanel, the thesp has been cast in the half-hour Dan Finnerty pilot for Warner Bros. TV and ABC. Deschanel’s credits include the Stephen King miniseries “Rose Red” and NBC’s “Providence.”

Deschanel, who next appears in a trio of pics — “Cold Mountain,” “Easy” and “The Alamo” — is repped by Gersh and managed by Anonymous Content.
