'Henry' brings much warmth, hugs to Tavern on the Green
Kevin Kline may have left his Falstaff belly back in the dressing room, but the twin gray mops of his beard and hair were very much his.
Thursday night’s party for “Henry IV” brought out Kline’s movie co-stars Meryl Streep (“Sophie’s Choice”) and Glenn Close (“The Big Chill”), who made for a very huggy threesome with the actor at Tavern on the Green.
In his Shakespearean stage debut, Ethan Hawke eschewed the English flair and rounded tones of his fellow thespians. He explained his hard Yankee accent: “I saw Hotspur as this American warmonger.”
