Scribe channeling NBC

Caron shares vision with Peacock

Veteran scribe Glenn Gordon Caron has set up his first-ever project at NBC, teaming with exec producers Kelsey Grammer and Steve Stark for an hourlong drama about a woman with psychic abilities.

Based on the story of Allison DuBois, a self-described “research medium and criminal profiler” based in Arizona, skein will explore how an ordinary woman comes to balance her “gift” with being a wife and mother. Caron (“Now and Again”) will write and exec produce the project for Grammer’s Paramount Network TV-based Grammnet Prods.

NBC has made a premium script commitment to the project with a small penalty attached.

Caron met with DuBois on the advice of Grammer and Par execs, who had profiled the Arizona mother for a reality pilot put together by UTA-repped Grammnet a few years ago. While Caron calls himself “a cynic who’s willing to listen” when it comes to the idea of paranormal powers, he was impressed enough by DuBois to develop a skein inspired by her story.

“She’s not someone who woke up and said, ‘I’m a psychic,’ ” Caron said. “She’s married to a guy who traffics in science, and she has three kids. She wasn’t thrilled to be as sensitive (to outside voices) as she is.”

While the untitled NBC project will have elements of detective work, Endeavor-repped Caron said the skein will feature a heavy dose of humor and focus more on the fictional psychic’s home and personal life.

“I don’t think it’s the mystery element that’s going to be the motor,” he said. “The personal story is what I found intriguing.”
