MIAMI — Galan Entertainment has started production on reality romance/matchmaking series “La Cenicienta” (Cinderella) for Telemundo.
In a show of synergy between the Spanish-lingo net and parent NBC, Eva Tamargo Lemus, a featured player on the Peacock’s daytime sudser “Passions,” has been tapped as the show’s host and “godmother.”
Tamargo Lemus will help the Cinderella — 23-year-old Minerva Ruvalcaba of Houston — navigate the process of choosing one of 20 suitors.
The Latin spin on the reality courtship format is that Ruvalcaba will be aided not only by two best friends but by her father, mother and one of her four brothers; an astrologer; and a priest.
Padre Alberto, who used to have his own Galan-produced talker on Telemundo, has signed up for the latter job.
There’s no preem date yet on the one-hour series, which will air as a nightly primetime strip.
“The series will play like a telenovela,” said executive producer Nely Galan. “I love the idea of combining a very Latino format like the telenovela with the reality genre.”
Danila Koverman, one of the original creators of the Style Network, is the other executive producer. Producers on the series are Hugo Arenas, Ada Gorn, Guille Magana and Tod Schellinger.
