Starz! has picked up offbeat comedy “Unconditional Love,” toplining Kathy Bates and Rupert Everett, from New Line Cinema.
Film will bow on the cabler Aug. 2 at 9 p.m.
Pic, developed at Columbia and shot in 2000, was originally intended for theatrical release.
Helmed by P.J. Hogan (“My Best Friend’s Wedding”) and co-written by Hogan and wife Jocelyn Moorhouse, comedy is the story of a Chicago housewife (Bates) who heads to the U.K. for the funeral of her pop-star idol after being dumped by her husband. There she meets the murdered singer’s lover (Everett) and persuades him to return with her to the U.S. to hunt down the killer.
Jonathan Pryce and Dan Aykroyd also star.
