Walden Media will relocate its entertainment headquarters from New York City to Los Angeles in August.
Walden’s educational, interactive and publishing groups will continue to operate out of Boston, and its theater division will continue to operate in Denver.
Also located in Los Angeles are Walden’s sister production companies, Anschutz Entertainment Group and Crusader Entertainment. CEO Cary Granat heads Walden.
Now in production is “Around the World in 80 Days” starring Jackie Chan. In post is “I Am David,” based on the novel by Ann Holm, adapted and directed by Paul Feig and starring Joan Plowright and Jim Caviezel.
The company also is making the live-action feature adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ “The Chronicles of Narnia,” beginning with “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”
In association with the Walt Disney Co., Walden recently released James Cameron’s 3-D, large-format “Ghosts of the Abyss” and “Holes,” the adaptation of Louis Sachar’s young-adult novel.
