Networks are starting to spread some love to their new fall shows.
While “The OC,” “Las Vegas,” “Eve” and “All of Us” are the only new shows that have snagged full season pickups so far, webs have started ordering extra scripts for some key performers.
NBC has asked for five more scripts of frosh laffers “Whoopi” and “Happy Family,” both of which picked up Nielsen steam in their most recent outings.
Over at ABC, net has given the go-ahead for four more scripts of all of its new laffers: “Hope & Faith,” “It’s All Relative,” “Married to the Kellys” and “I’m With Her.” A network spokesman did not return calls seeking comment.
At CBS, Eye has ordered additional scripts for one of the season’s most promising hours, “Joan of Arcadia,” which will easily snag a back-nine order within the next few weeks. Net has also asked to see more scripts for “Cold Cases,” from exec producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
Even Fox is getting into the act, ordering three more scripts on a show that hasn’t even bowed yet: drama “Still Life.” Net had ordered six episodes of the skein for midseason.
There continues to be buzz that the net may order even more episodes of “The OC,” which has an order for 22 episodes.
