MT&R kudos for Rather

'Friends' exec producers also to be feted

The Museum of Television & Radio has announced honorees for its annual L.A. gala and the launch of a luncheon speaker series, the Industry Forum.

The MT&R will fete CBS news anchor Dan Rather and “Friends” executive producers Kevin S. Bright, David Crane and Marta Kauffman at the Beverly Hills Hotel Nov. 10.

The MT&R will honor Rather for his “steadfast commitment to fair and accurate news reporting,” and the “Friends” producers for “revolutionizing quality primetime entertainment.” Gala will benefit the Museum’s education and TV/radio preservation programs.

Warner Bros. TV prexy Peter Roth will speak at the MT&R Industry Forum in November. Series aims to facilitate discussions about entertainment industry trends and provide networking opportunities for industry professionals..

Program was initiated by MT&R L.A. board of governors members Nancy Josephson, president of Intl. Creative Management, and Gary Newman, president of Twentieth Century Fox TV, as an extension of MT&R’s successful Midsummer Nights networking events.

Other execs skedded to participate include Sam Haskell, William Morris Agency worldwide head of TV; FX Networks prexy-CEO Peter Liguori; Dawn Ostroff, UPN president of entertainment; and Gavin Polone, producer, Pariah Prods.
