‘Man’ gets new showrunners, hosts

Show to remain 'decidedly the same,' but with new hosts

Mark L. Keizer (“Dog Eat Dog”) and Tom Gianas (“Saturday Night Live”) have been tapped showrunners and co-exec producers for Comedy Central’s “The Man Show.”

Fifth season brings in new hosts Joe Rogan (“Fear Factor”) and standup comic Doug Stanhope, who replace original hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Corolla (Daily Variety, Feb. 6). Exec producer Daniel Kellison also vacated the series to join the pair on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Stone Stanley Entertainment’s Scott Stone and David Stanley remain exec producers.

Gianas says the series will remain “decidedly the same,” but with new hosts in place, the pair adds they plan to push the show to its gross-out potential.

“Joe and Doug have different takes on being a man, and that needs to be honored,” Gianas joked. “I personally want more about the ‘Juggy’ girls — explore what goes on in their lives, backstage, on their way home.”

Production on the new “Man Show” has already started, with the first of the new episodes likely to premiere in late summer.

Before his recent work on NBC’s reality skein “Dog Eat Dog,” Keiser previously served as a supervising producer for FX’s latenight series “The Test” and the daytime talker “The Roseanne Show.” Other producing credits include gabbers “Later with Greg Kinnear,” “The Howard Stern Interview,” “The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder” and “Talk Soup with Greg Kinnear.”

Gianas worked as an “SNL” scribe and director for four years. He previously wrote and directed “The Awful Truth with Michael Moore” for Bravo, and the HBO projects “The Adventures of Tenacious D” and “Mr. Show.”

“Man Show” is Comedy Central’s third-highest rated series.
