Exec to o'see company's day-to-day operations
Steve Krone has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of Village Roadshow Pictures Entertainment, the L.A.-based subsidiary of Australia’s Village Roadshow Ltd.
In the newly created position, Krone will continue to oversee company’s day-to-day operations. He’ll work directly with VRP chairman-CEO Bruce Berman as company readies for the release of its blockbuster sequels, “The Matrix: Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions,” through Warner Bros.
Krone, previously VRP’s exec veepee-COO, was instrumental in securing the company’s newly restructured co-financing arrangement, which commits a revolving $1 billion to current and future film production. He joined the company as exec veepee of business and legal affairs from Beverly Hills law firm Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown.
“Steve and I have worked side by side together since we both joined VRP five years ago,” said Berman. “He has been an integral part of our success, and his elevation to president is indicative of how important we feel he is to our future.”
Krone said, “I’ve had a wonderful experience in my first five years working with Graham, Bruce and the entire Village team in Los Angeles and Melbourne. I couldn’t be more pleased with the opportunity to assume additional responsibilities and to tackle new challenges, especially as we approach what I expect to be such an extraordinary period for VRP.”
