KNBC taps ayem anchor

Schauble joins group; Boesing added to replace Nance

KNBC’s “Today in L.A. Weekend” anchor Chris Schauble has been tapped co-anchor of the newscast’s weekday edition “Today in L.A.,” filling the seat left vacant earlier this year by David Cruz.

Schauble joins Kelly Mack, who has been co-anchoring the program since March 2001.

Additionally, the ayem news program has named Rachel Boesing as the weather forecaster. Boesing, who joins the show from KVBC-TV in Las Vegas, replaces longtime weatherman Christopher Nance, who left the show in January in a sea of controversy. John Stehlin and Danny Romero had been filling in for Nance.

The new team will be together for the first time Thursday.

“We were looking to build a team with the right energy and chemistry,” said Kimberly Godwin, KNBC VP and news director. “Chris, Kelly, Rachel and Paul (Johnson) have a unique blend of enthusiasm and professionalism that we feel will appeal to our morning viewers.”

Schauble joined KNBC in June 2001 as a general assignment reporter/fill-in anchor and was promoted to co-anchor of “Today in L.A. Weekend” in August 2001. Schauble was a reporter/fill-in anchor at KCNC-TV in Denver from 1998 to 2001.

David Cruz continues to co-anchor “The Mid Day Report” at 11 a.m. and the “Channel 4 News” at 11:30 a.m., both with Mack.
