King World Prods. sales exec Mike Stornello has jumped to the programming side, taking over as head of the syndication powerhouse’s development unit.
Stornello will become senior VP of development at King World, filling the vacant position last held by Steven Nalevansky, who left the company late last year. He’ll be based in Santa Monica and report to Roger King, CEO of CBS Enterprises/King World Prods.
The veteran exec recently exercised his programming chops by heading up development on King World’s upcoming daytime talk strip “Living It Up! With Ali & Jack,” which has been cleared in 87% of the country for a fall launch.
Stornello most recently was senior VP of sales, domestic television distribution. The exec oversaw all of King World’s Midwest region sales efforts. He joined the company as an account executive in 1990.
“Mike knows our stations and is keenly aware of the kind of programming that works in the syndication marketplace,” King said. “He’s done a fabulous job here already with ‘Living It Up! With Ali & Jack,’ and we are looking forward to having his continued leadership, creativity and enthusiasm in this key area.”
Before King World, Stornello worked in ad sales at two Chicago radio stations.
