Investigative reporter joins KNBC

Peabody, Emmy winning Grover known for exposés

KNBC has tapped Joel Grover to join the news team’s investigative unit.

Grover left cross-town KCBS in December, having worked at the CBS-owned outfit since 1996. He’s best known for his undercover segs, which have exposed unsanitary conditions in local eateries and fraud within the California DMV and car dealerships.

“Joel is one of the top investigative reporters in the country. His reputation in the Los Angeles area is unparalleled, and we are thrilled to have him on our team,” said VP-news director Kimberly Godwin. “With his storehouse of credibility, determination and investigative clout, he brings a whole new dimension to the unit.”

Grover has received 13 Emmys and several investigative reporting awards, including the Peabody and the DuPont Columbia, which he won while at KSTP Minneapolis for his reports exposing discriminatory practices at major department store chains.
