NBC’s just wild about Harry.
The Peacock is so high on jazzman turned “Will & Grace” laffman Harry Connick Jr. that it’s talking to the musician-thesp about the possibility of giving him his own series, perhaps as early as fall 2004. Net announced last week that Connick will be back as Grace’s globetrotting hubby next season.
But a little bit o’ Harry apparently isn’t enough for NBC Entertainment prexy Jeff Zucker. Net insiders confirm Zucker is looking to develop a vehicle for Connick and hopes to sign the crooner to a talent holding deal.
Should a Connick skein make it to the pilot stage, it won’t be a “Will & Grace” spinoff but rather a fresh concept designed specifically for the singer.
Connick’s had no problem making the transition from crooner to thesp. His feature credits include last spring’s “Basic,” “Memphis Belle” and “Little Man Tate.”
