'Mansion' preem toasted with Southern food, non-alcoholic drinks
HOLLYWOOD — Partygoers pressed the flesh with zombie greeters as they walked through a foggy graveyard following Disney’s “Haunted Mansion” preem Sunday at El Capitan. Among those noshing on Southern cuisine — no alcohol, it’s Disney — were pic’s stars Eddie Murphy, Terence Stamp, Marsha Thomason and Wallace Shawn.
Disney Studio’s chairman Dick Cook said the studio is considering even more ride-based movie possibilities in the wake of “Pirates of Caribbean” — among them Space Mountain and the Jungle Cruise. Helmer Rob Minkoff said he was inspired by the fantasy world of “The Wizard of Oz” to create the ghostly surroundings of the Haunted Mansion.
