Fox casting chief Marcia Shulman has fallen in love with Olliver Jones, who has signed a talent holding deal with the network.
The catch? Jones has no acting credits. But Shulman said she was willing to give the musician a shot.
“We rarely take a chance with someone who hasn’t acted, but he is such a big personality,” she said. “He’s completely adorable, got a great personality and is really funny. And his looks — he’s as good as Ashton Kutcher but with a real rock ‘n’ roll edge.”
With a nod to the old Hollywood star-making machine, Shulman has sent Jones to acting class, and the budding thesp has already gone out on several auditions.
“This is the part of my business that really excites me,” she said. “Someone like this doesn’t come along every day. I like working with actors, and I tend to stay away from someone who’s just cute. But he’s lived an interesting life and was a complicated kid, even though he’s funny and charming.”
Shulman said the 19-year-old could wind up in either a sitcom or a drama.
Jones has signed with Innovative Artists and Fenton Kritzer Entertainment.
