Curry is the theme of the first Indo-Franco co-production that will be made not in French or Hindi but, mindful of a global audience, in English.
The $2.1 million feature revolves around an Indian immigrant who makes it big in France by opening a mobile kitchen called “One Dollar Curry,” which is also the movie’s title.
It is being produced by Indian media and broadcast group Zee and France Television, according to director Vijay Singh, a Paris-based Indian writer.
U.K.’s Silhouette Films also will finance the project.
Movie, slated for release early next year, will star Smriti Mishra and Vikram Chatwal.
Singh’s “Jai Ganga — In Search of River Goddess,” based on his novel, scored big in France three years ago.
