CBS has upped Jim McKairnes to senior VP of program planning and scheduling.
McKairnes, who had been VP in the department since 1998, helps to schedule series and specials for both CBS and sister web UPN. He reports to Kelly Kahl, CBS exec VP for program planning and scheduling, who announced the promotion Tuesday.
“Jim’s unparalleled knowledge of television gives CBS an invaluable leg up in terms of strategic scheduling,” Kahl said.
In addition to his usual responsibilities, McKairnes was instrumental in launching the Eye’s current “CBS at 75 Moments,” 30-second vignettes now airing as part of the net’s anniversary celebration. He also has a near-legendary knowledge of primetime schedules throughout the medium’s history, and often is able to recite exactly when and where a specific show aired during the last few decades.
McKairnes has been at CBS since 1993, when he started as a manager in program planning and current programming. He was upped to director in 1995.
