“Northfork” preemgoers couldn’t rely on the easy summaries of so many summer movies (explosions, more explosions, car chase, hero triumphs) at the pic’s Arclight bow Thursday night.
Paramount Classic’s co-prexy Ruth Vitale said the pic was “incandescent, slightly kooky and wonderfully surreal,” while co-prexy David Dinerstein dubbed it “a fever dream.” Star Nick Nolte embraced the pic’s enigmatic abstraction by calling it “suddenly dead.”
Co-writer Mark Polish (brother Michael Polish directed) said, “The film will tell you what it is. It embraces you.”
