CBS is giving “The Amazing Race” a pretty great present — its best reality timeslot.
Fourth edition of the Jerry Bruckheimer/Bertram van Munster unscripted actioner has been skedded Thursdays at 8 p.m., the slot reserved for “Survivor” during the regular season. Skein bows its summer run with a 90-minute premiere May 29.
“Race” has been a solid performer for CBS since its fall 2001 premiere. Last edition of the skein, which aired in the fall, still did OK but struggled a bit opposite ABC’s “The Bachelor.”
New slot gives “Race” a chance to re-establish itself on one of the few nights not expected to be dominated by competing reality skeins.
As with prior editions, “Race 4” will pit 12 teams of two against each other in a worldwide dash for a million bucks.
This installment’s teams include a pair of women whose husbands are players for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons; two circus clowns; and a couple who’ve been dating for 12 years — but are still virgins.
In addition to “Race,” Eye’s other big summer guns include “Big Brother 4” and the relationship skein “Cupid.”
“Race” is from Bruckheimer Films and Earthview in association with Touchstone Television and Amazing Race Prods. Hayma Screech Washington and Jon Kroll are co-exec producers.
