Gospel VP to preach expansion, will ink new artists
HOLLYWOOD — Tara Griggs-Magee, senior VP and general manager for Verity Records, has been named executive vice president, gospel, Sony Urban Music. She reports to David McPherson, executive VP, Urban Music, Sony Music.
In her new role Griggs-Magee will work closely with McPherson as well as with all Sony Music labels to expand the company’s presence in the gospel genre. She will work with Sony Music artists Mary Mary, Michelle Williams, BeBe Winans and CeCe Winans, and will be responsible for signing and developing gospel artists.
Griggs-Magee will also act as the company’s liaison to Integrity Music, which recently entered into a long-term marketing and distribution deal with Sony Music.
“With a great roster of artists, world-class A&R, marketing and distribution capabilities, and a key relationship with Integrity Music we have everything we need to bring our artists’ music to a wide variety of markets,” Griggs-Magee said.
Most recently Griggs-Magee was named senior VP and general manager for Verity Records in 2002. She joined Verity in 1995 as the label’s director, and in 1996 she was promoted to GM. In 1997 she was promoted to VP-GM.
