EMI hires Universal Music exec

Hedstrom to manage Continental Europe division

LONDON -– Universal Music International’s Thomas Hedstrom has been appointed chief operating officer of EMI Recorded Music Continental Europe and will take up his position on May 5.

Based in London and reporting to chairman and CEO Emmanuel de Buretel, Hedstrom, who is currently vice president Eastern Europe at Universal Music International, will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of 16 regional offices including Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Presidents of EMI Germany, France, Italy and Spain, however, will continue to report to de Buretel as will the Continental European catalog marketing, commercial and business affairs functions.
