Music major BMG’s Strategic Marketing Group has tapped Mike Mjehovich senior VP of sales to oversee its newly reorganized commercial sales department, including its catalog division BMG Heritage and its budget department.
Separately, BMG named EMI veteran Jon Burk director of sales for the West Coast at the group, working with the Los Angeles, Seattle and Dallas branches. Burk has held a number of posts throughout the country at EMI’s distrib arm, most recently as a senior director of retail marketing in California.
The third appointment of the day went to Kathy Spitz, who will sign on with BMG as Midwest sales director for the Strategic Marketing Group. Spitz comes to the major from rack-jobber Handleman, where she was a segment director handling Latin, contemporary country and children’s segments, among others.
