Circuit features Earth, Isleys, Smiley, Earthquake, Givens
Walter Latham, producer of concert film “The Original Kings of Comedy,” has set the lineup for his next tour. The Crown Royal Comedy Soul Festival will feature Earth Wind & Fire, the Isley Brothers and comedians Rickey Smiley, Earthquake and Adele Givens; Bruce Bruce will host. Twenty-city tour will start in Atlanta Nov. 13 and end in Oakland Dec. 28.
“I liken this event to the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans,” Latham said. “The difference is that this festival will travel to the fans instead of having the fans travel to it. I’m excited to combine the worlds of music and comedy, something no one has done thus far.”
Latham’s original two-year Kings of Comedy tour, starring Steve Harvey, Bernie Mac, D.L. Hughley and Cedric the Entertainer, grossed $39 million. The Paramount/MTV Films pic of the tour grossed more than $38 million.
“Latham Entertainment Presents,” featuring Earthquake, Bruce Bruce, Rickey Smiley, Sommore and J. Anthony Brown, is due out on homevid Oct. 7.
Latham, who has a first-look deal at Par, also co-produced “Martin Lawrence Live: Runteldat” and is developing golfing comedy “The Club” and romantic comedy “Rewind.”
