Exec heads musician services, education programs
Kristen Madsen has been promoted to senior VP and appointed to oversee the Grammy Foundation and the MusiCares Foundation as part of a shift in the structure of the Recording Academy.
Madsen reports to academy prexy Neil Portnow.
The Grammy Foundation provides music and arts-based education programs for students, and MusiCares provides services and resources to cover financial, medical and personal emergencies for members of the music community.
Madsen has served as VP of the academy’s member services department for the past eight years. Prior to that, she ran the California Assembly of Local Arts Agencies in San Francisco, a membership association dedicated to ensuring access to public funds for arts programming in local communities across the state. Madsen began her career in the arts management field working at the Utah Arts Council.
