Thesp leaves percentery after rep ankles
Fresh from winning his Emmy for “The Sopranos,” James Gandolfini has signed with UTA.Gandolfini chose the agency after meeting with all of the major percenteries. He had long been represented by David Brownstein at Writers & Artists but parted company not long after Brownstein ankled that agency. Gandolfini continues to be managed by Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders. The actor changes representation after coming through a bruising salary renegotiation with HBO that gave him a significant raise to continue as Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano through the current fifth season, as well as the sixth season that was announced after he made the extension deal. UTA will guide him into feature opportunities, a course already well under way. Gandolfini stars with Ben Affleck in the DreamWorks/Columbia Pictures co-production “Surviving Christmas.” His recent screen stints include “The Man Who Wasn’t There,” “The Mexican” and “The Castle.”
