Veep charged with selling, adapting existing int'l formats
There’s a new reality for Eugene Young, who’s been upped to senior VP of programming and development at unscripted powerhouse Endemol USA.
Gig puts Young in charge of selling and adapting existing Endemol international formats, as well as developing homegrown concepts. He reports to Endemol USA prexy David Goldberg.
Young “is a great executive who understands development as well as sales and production,” Goldberg said. “This promotion reflects my absolute faith in his abilities.”
Since joining Endemol USA in September 2000 as VP of programming, Young has worked on and overseen skeins such as “Fear Factor,” “Performing As…,” “Spy TV” and FX’s upcoming “Master Plan.”
In conjunction with Young’s promotion, Caroline Baumgard has been upped to director of development. She had been manager of the department.
Goldberg called Baumgard “a bright, young executive…(who) lives and breathes television.” Baumgard’s credits includes stints at Telepictures, CNN, WABC and “Extra.”
